The Wedding Professional’s Guide to Giving Back (Without Going Broke)

You started your wedding business with more than just profit in mind.

Giving back often feels like something “for later.” You know, when you’re “more established,” “have more to give,” or “have a bigger team.”

But here’s the truth: you don’t have to wait.

Let’s talk about simple, intentional ways to weave purpose into your wedding business right now, even on a small budget.

1. Align with a cause that makes sense for your brand

Instead of trying to support every cause, choose one that deeply aligns with your mission or the community you serve. If you’re a florist who supports local sustainability, maybe you plant a tree for every wedding booked. If you’re a wedding photographer for LGBTQIA+ couples, maybe you donate a portion of profits to organizations that support LGBTQIA+ rights.

When we worked with Houndsly USA, they wanted to align their business with giving back to the environment. They already had eco-friendly packaging, but we introduced them to One Tree Planted to plant a tree for every sale.

Since this initiative began, Houndsly USA has planted 947 trees and have reduced CO2 emissions by an estimated 55lbs.

2. Bake impact into your services

You don’t need a separate campaign or charity event. Simply build your give-back into what you already do. For example:

• Donate a small percentage of each sale
• Offer free strategy sessions to underrepresented business owners quarterly
• Partner with a nonprofit and promote their mission on your site

When we worked with Ava Dean Beauty, we partnered with Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys to launch a collection of 3 nail polishes named after his children, where a portion of the proceeds for these polishes are donated back to the Cure 4 The Kids Foundation. Cure 4 The Kids Foundation is advancing cures and prevention of childhood diseases through clinical excellence, research, and innovation.

3. Make it visible on your website

This is where the magic happens. A dedicated “Impact” section or simple note on your homepage lets visitors know your business stands for something. It builds trust and connection fast,  especially with values-driven clients.

4. Start small and grow as you grow

Impact isn’t all-or-nothing. Even a $5 donation per project matters. The point is consistency, not scale. As your business grows, your impact can too.
