If the words “search engine optimization” make your brain fog over, you’re not alone.
Most creatives think SEO = complicated tech. Code. Plugins. Expensive ad agencies.
But here’s the truth:
One of the most powerful SEO tools you have is something you’re already using.
It’s your words.
More specifically: your website copy.
Yep, that homepage intro, your about page, your services descriptions, even your blog titles. They all hold power when it comes to showing up in Google searches.
Here’s how to use your own copywriting (without any tech headaches) to start getting found online.
Gone are the days of stuffing keywords like “Cleveland wedding photographer” into every sentence. Google is smarter now. What it really wants? Clear, useful, relevant content that answers what people are searching for.
Your job?
Use the words your dream client would actually type into Google.
Try this:
Instead of:
“I specialize in fine art visual storytelling for modern love stories.”
Say:
“I’m a Cleveland wedding photographer capturing candid, joy-filled moments for couples who want their day to feel as real as it looks.”
Search engines love structure. And people do, too.
Your page headlines (like the big bold text that breaks up your content) tell both Google and your readers what your page is about. If they’re vague or too clever, you’re missing an opportunity.
Example:
Instead of “Let’s Make Magic” on your services page, try:
“Custom Wedding Photography for Couples in Ohio”
It’s still on-brand but now it’s also findable.
You don’t need to know code to improve your SEO. But you do need to be intentional.
Here are the top spots to naturally include keywords:
If you wrote the perfect service description, but it’s tucked inside an image or downloadable file, Google can’t read it.
That means your words aren’t helping your visibility.
Tip: Make sure your main content is written as text on the page, not buried in graphics. Add alt text to images, too. (It helps with accessibility and search.)
A few high-quality pages with solid SEO will outperform a dozen scattered posts every time.
If you have:
…you’re in great shape to start ranking and attracting aligned leads. Quality > quantity, always.
If you’ve already written your website, you’re halfway there.
The key is refining those words with intention—so they not only sound like you but help you get seen by the people who need what you offer most.
We do this every day at Pop Impact™: turning heartfelt copy into high-performing websites for creatives who want to grow without the grind.
